The American Educational R-101 viewing plate is used for counting colonies of bacteria or other microorganisms, and is etch printed with rulings for use with 60.0 to 100.0mm petri dishes. The plate is versatile for use with or without an outside light source, and is made of plexiglass for durability. Plexiglas is an acrylic plastic, which is lightweight, and resists shattering, impact, and most non-abrasive cleaners including ammonia and strong detergents. The R-101 has instructions for ease of use, and is suitable for grades 7 to 12 and ages 12 to 18.
